We are Garret and Amanda Willis, the husband-and-wife team who design and handcraft high-quality full-grain leather goods, leather patterns, and leather patch hats near Austin, Texas. Grit Mercantile also encourages the growth of leather workers, sewers, and makers through our in-house designed digital patterns, acrylic templates, and acrylic sewing and leathercrafting tools. Plus, we support businesses, organizations and nonprofits with personalized leather goods and branded hats.

At Grit Mercantile, we have a passion for well-made items that are beautiful, functional and made to last. For us, craftsmanship and quality materials are key. That is why we craft our goods from fine full-grain leather and solid brass hardware. We cut and stitch each piece, then finish by dying and burnishing the edges.

All our acrylic templates and tools are precisely laser cut from strong cast acrylic that will last through many hours of use and are the same tools we use in our leathercrafting studio. In-house designed digital patterns are offered in SVG, PDF and DXF file formats, so they can be created by hand, with a die-cutting machine, or laser and are available worldwide.

Grit Mercantile started in 2020 with the desire to create a better leather wallet. Now we offer fine handmade wallets, bags, keychains, journals, pen holders, watch cases, bookmarks, and more leather goods. On any given day, you will find us dreaming up new designs and creating fine full grain leather goods, patterns, templates, and tools in our Grit Mercantile Studio just north of Austin in Round Rock, Texas.
