All proceeds generated by the Coolangatta Surf Club are diverted to the Coolangatta Surf Lifesaving Club. This allows the volunteer lifesavers to purchase vital rescue equipment, provide surf training & education which are required to protect swimmers at beautiful Coolangatta beach. The volunteers patrol the beach during the summer season.

Coolangatta Surf Life Saving Club is one of over 280 surf clubs, and its members are among the 80,000 surf lifesavers around Australia who volunteer their time to keep our beaches safe. An average of 10,000 rescues are performed each year by surf lifesavers, who are trained to use rescue tubes, rescue boards, radios, Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB’s) oxygen equipment and provide basic life support. Coolangatta Surf Life Saving Club is a community organisation run by volunteers who are dedicated to protecting members of the public who surf and swim at the beach. Located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia and established in 1959, the club continues to serve the community and keep Coolangatta Beach safe for swimmers. Surf patrols are conducted on weekends and public holidays during the surfing season from September to April each year.

Coolangatta Surf Life Saving Club is committed to:

• Appoint patrols and render all posssible aid to those in distress.
• Prevent the loss of life from drowning by providing efficient life saving apparatus.
• Study and practice the surf life saving methods taught by Surf Life Saving Australia.

While the club is committed to ensuring Coolangatta beach remains one of the safest beaches on the Gold Coast and in Australia, there is more to the club than just Surf Lifesaving. The club has 100s of members who take part in a wide range of activities such as beach patrols, fundraising, Surf Boats, Beach Sprints, Swimming, Board & Ski events. The club has formal and informal social activities throughout the year including the Supporter’s Club Raffles, Sports Luncheon, Golf Days, Barefoot Bowls & much more.
