At Thriving Minds, for your session you can log on from your own home, office or car (wherever you have privacy and a strong internet connection) to receive great care without spending long periods of time stuck in traffic or waiting in waiting rooms. You have the ability to directly message Dr. Karamat once you are an established patient through our online portal through Charm, without having to go through a nurse and can communicate with our practice manager via text messaging from your phone number, on our HIPAA compliant platform called Spruce as well. You don’t have to go through phone trees and stay on hold. Even if we miss a call, you never have to wait long to hear back from us! We are a small close-knit team, and you will never have someone put off answering something for you, unless they are directly asking Dr. Karamat for her input. Therefore, your care is highly personalized. At large practices patient’s receive feedback, instructions and answers from multiple staff members without the knowledge of the practice owners or physicians. This never happens at Thriving Minds. We take pride in providing a high level of personalized, compassionate and efficient patient care and we do this by working together and always remaining completely informed about every single patient and every single concern. We only take on as much as we can handle, and we handle everything we do with the utmost care, dedication and compassion.
What Can I expect during a typical session with a psychiatrist?
Dr. Karamat will review your history, symptoms and concerns. She will ask you what you are hoping to accomplish from the session and will discuss a comprehensive plan with options you can choose from. She will never tell you what to do but will always provide you with evidence-based information and answer your questions so that you can make an informed decision about your care. She likes to guide you in your treatment and path towards stability, rather than to direct everything that pertains to your care.
Mehr Karamat, M.D. PMH-CDr. Karamat was born and raised in California and trained in the Midwest at the Hennepin-Regions Psychiatry training program in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. She has practiced in both states and has served as a faculty member at psychiatry residency programs at both her training institution. She has also completed the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program (PPTP) through the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (MPSI) and she uses this training and knowledge in her approach to both evaluation and treatment.
