The American Marketing Association, one of the largest professional associations for marketers, has 40,000 members worldwide in every area of marketing. For over six decades the AMA has been the leading source for information, knowledge sharing and development in the marketing profession.
The New England chapter of the American Marketing Association, AMA Boston, was formally founded in 1940. The name of the chapter was changed to The Boston Chapter when other New England cities such as Providence and Hartford founded chapters of their own.
In Boston, we are dedicated to being the essential resource for advancing the practice of marketing and the professional development of marketers. We have a long history of providing value to our members by giving access to critically important information and valuable contacts not only help boost careers and build businesses, but also deliver exceptional customer experiences. With more than 500 members, AMA Boston is the 4th largest chapter in the world and continues to be the number one resource for marketing professionals throughout the greater Boston area.
The Boston Chapter of the American Marketing Association, originally named the “New England Chapter,” was one of eight chapters to first organize under the American Marketing Society in 1934. Three years after the New England Chapter was organized, The American Marketing Society merged with the National Association of Marketing Teachers to form the American Marketing Association. This consolidation took place on January 1, 1937. The National Association of Marketing Teachers dates back to 1915.
The American Marketing Association operated as a not-for-profit unincorporated association until June 22, 1951, when its members voted to change to a not-for-profit corporation, incorporating in the State of Illinois.
The New England Chapter changed its name in 1951 to “Boston Chapter” and has continued its long tradition of excellence operating as a not-for-profit educational organization in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
